A 5-Week Online Experience of Embodied Self-Discovery

PRI®-Inspired Qigong

Join us for a five-week online exploration of breath, posture, and movement through the complementary lenses of Medical Qigong and Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI®).

Medical Qigong is an ancient system for cultivating health and wellbeing through specific postures, breathing techniques, movements, vocalizations, and visualizations. It offers a way of understanding how our organ systems, sensory perceptions, and emotional experiences align with the rhythms and qualities of the natural world.

Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI®) provides a modern scientific framework for understanding the predictable and complex patterns of human posture and movement, and how these patterns influence our relationship with both our internal and external environments.

In this course, we bring these two paradigms together to explore how breath, posture, and movement can be experienced with greater awareness and choice. As we embody these practices, we cultivate energy for healing and wellbeing and learn to orient ourselves from a place of curiosity rather than protection or threat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this class appropriate for PRI®-trained clinicians?
Yes. You’re welcome to join to experience how Medical Qigong can be integrated into clinical work. Many clinicians find the practices supportive for their own nervous system regulation.

Is this class appropriate for people with a history of trauma?
Broadly, yes. Language is invitational, participation is always optional, and choices are offered whenever possible.
This class is not appropriate for individuals experiencing active suicidal ideation or with a current plan for self-harm. In those cases, trained mental health support is essential.

Can I participate if I am experiencing a lot of pain and suffering?

Yes, the process of Medical Qigong starts in our imagination, therefore, if performing the movements isn't possible right now, you can sit, recline and invite the intended experience within your comfort zone.

What if I can’t attend live?
Recordings will be available for two weeks following each session. Questions may be emailed in advance and addressed in the weekly sessions.

What are the benefits of taking this class online?

  • Participate from the comfort and safety of your own space

  • Option to mute sound during vocalizations

  • Camera-off participation for privacy

  • Ability to revisit recordings to deepen learning

How is Qigong different from yoga?
Both originate in Eastern spiritual traditions. Qigong emphasizes standing posture, pelvic, rib cage and cranium alignment, and subtle internal movement to support energy flow. Yoga is generally more dynamic, moving the spine and joints toward end-range positions. Medical Qigong is often more accessible for those with limited mobility or chronic pain.

Is this class appropriate if I’m new to PRI® or struggle with “repositioning”?
Absolutely. These practices are especially helpful for people who find traditional PRI exercises overwhelming or difficult to sense. In clinical practice, I consider Medical Qigong part of my “Pre-PRI” toolbox.
